Last time I wrote here, I got to announce that I'm now an Author Accelerator certified book coach specializing in memoir. Yay me! With this news, I'm shifting how I work with writers, and I want to let you know what you can expect from me moving forward.
And if it's not for you, you have all my permission (as if you need it) and grace to stop reading. No hard feelings.
What's coming if you stick around to read my blogs?!
I'll be working with first-time writers who have been through something, and want to write a book about it to help others. I'll help them finally write their memoir, so they can share their experience and pay it forward.
I'll be focused on memoirs—that is, stories people want to write about their own lives or part of their lives.
I'll continue to share free advice and encouragement in these blogs, but it will all be less focused on self-help and business books and more focused on helping you share your story.
I'll continue to offer book coaching (where you write but with my guidance) and ghostwriting (where I write for you), and I'll share details of my paid services in these blogs, so you can decide if they're right for you.
For now, I'll be working one-on-one with writers. I won't be offering my group programs for the foreseeable future. (I really enjoy working closely and privately with folks, and it's how they make the most progress.)
What if you're not writing a memoir?
A memoir is a book about your life or part of your life.
Often, people aren't sure if they are (or should be) writing a memoir or self-help book because they want to help people and they also want to share what they went through.
A book coach (ahem, hi!) can help you figure out the right option for you and your goals.
But what if you're sure you're not writing a memoir? For example, you want to write a self-help guide, or a workbook, or a fictional (made up) story?
You're welcome to stick around and take whatever is useful from these blogs! If I can encourage you, I want to do so.
But you may also want to check out resources specific to the type of book you envision.
If you're writing a business book or self-help guide, check out my favorite book on this.
If you're writing fiction, check out Rachael Herron's resources.
(I'm not paid to recommend these. I just think they're great people doing great work.)
If you don't want to continue reading my blogs, that's okay, and I wish you all the best with your writing journey.
If you want to stick around...
I'm looking forward to sharing more about writing and sharing our stories. In a world full of animosity and fake news and AI this and AI that, we need real stories more than ever.
I'm here to help you share your story with the people who need to hear it most. And I can't wait to do more of that.
Thanks,
