The people who come to me want to write a memoir but haven’t done it yet. I’m going to guess this is you, too?

Perhaps you’ve been through something. Something that changed you. And now you want to write a book about it—in part to get it out of your system, but also to help others going through what you experienced.

And you've tried, but you don't really know where to start. Or you did start, but everything you write sounds... meh. It feels like such a huge task. Your ideas are all over the place, and this book is NOT coming together. At this rate, you'll never get it done.

But something in your soul is calling you to tell your story, and you don't want to regret not doing this. It's just so hard when you have no idea what the hell you're doing.

If you want to write your memoir, hi! Welcome.

You’re my favorite kind of person—the person who wants to use their experience to help others coming up behind them. Who knows sharing your story could do good in this world. Who knows this matters, even if you can’t always explain why to those non-book-loving muggles out there.

You want to finally share your story, and know people understand what actually happened to you. You want to be an author. To hold your book in your hands and know… I wrote this. This is my mark on the world, and no one can take it away.

But your attempts at writing so far aren’t working out. And I know why.

I’ve written twenty books, taught college writing classes, and am an Author Accelerated certified book coach, which means I’ve worked with about a bajillion writers throughout my career.

It’s taught me the problem may manifest in many different ways, but it always boils down to the same thing:

You don’t have a plan.

A PLAN is the answer to finally finishing your book

Wanna know what I write every. single. week? The one thing I NEVER fail to get to?

My grocery list.

Here is an honest-to-goodness screenshot of my grocery list this week. (Sure, it makes me look deranged, but if you’re curious, email me and I’ll tell what I’m cooking on Saturday.)

Book coaching involves making plans like you would make a grocery list.

I write it because I need to eat, which means I need groceries, and if I attempt to get said groceries without a plan, I will have a meltdown in the dairy aisle.

Or spend an obscene amount of money on Ferrero Rocher because they were on a great deal and the high-quality hazelnut chocolate was remarkably enticing.

Or I will bring home dried shiitake mushrooms but forget bananas. You know what my kid wants at bedtime every night? (It’s not a shiitake mushroom.)

A grocery list—a PLAN—keeps me sane. Prevents me from getting distracted. Ensures I accomplish what I actually intended.

Ahem.

Why do you think you can write a book without a plan?!

What do you need when writing a book, dear reader?

  • To stay sane.

  • To not get distracted.

  • To accomplish what you intended.

Yes, we want engaging stories and great writing and powerful life lessons. We’ll get to all that later. When you’re actually writing.

But you’re not writing yet, are you?

Because you’re attempting to write a book without a plan—when, duh, you can’t even get groceries without one.

I know I’m not the only one here who can’t function without a grocery list. Right? Right. We’re all in this together.

So, we all need a plan. Those twenty books? I used a plan for every one of them.

Plans work.

Plans get books done.

So… what next?

  • If the idea of planning makes you want to barf AND you’ve written a book you are proud of… feel free to ignore me. Go on your merry way! I’m thrilled for you.

  • If the idea of planning makes you want to barf and you HAVEN’T yet written a book you are proud of… consider this the message from the universe you’ve been waiting for. Time to plan, baby.

  • And if you’re on-board and want to know what should go IN your plan… you’re super-smart to ask. Yay you! Keep reading.

I am actually excited about my book now! This is going to be fun.

How Memoir Book Coaching works

Together, we create your plan. Not just any ol’ plan, either. We develop…

The Blueprint.

The Blueprint is a PLANNING methodology developed by Jennie Nash at Author Accelerator, which I am trained and licensed to use in my work with clients.

The Blueprint gives you a solid foundation for your story. Then, when you sit down to write, you know exactly what you're doing.

THIS IS AMAZING.

I cannot overstate this enough. How nice is it when you know exactly what to do?! If you’ve ever thought, I just wish someone would tell me what to do, well, dear reader, THIS IS HOW YOU GET THAT!

I can tell you about process and technique and how writing works (what are words, again?), but the heart of the story needs to come from you. It’s YOUR story, after all. Your creativity. Your heart. Your soul. You can’t blindly trust that to someone else. (Even me.)

So I guide YOU through creating a Blueprint. Then, when it’s time to write, it’s like past-you is telling current-you EXACTLY what to do. Huzzah!

You DON’T surrender your decision-making to someone else, but you DO get guidance and hand-holding all the way through from a professional who knows how to help YOU write what’s really on YOUR heart.

(If this sounds like magic, it kinda is. Don’t worry—I’ll explain all when we work through it.)

I am no longer in fight or flight when I look at my writing. I feel like I now have a direction. Thank you so much for your support.

Memoir Coaching Program: What’s Included

We’ll work together in a three-month program to create your plan, so you know what to include, what to leave out, and exactly what to do next, every step of the way. You’ll get accountability, real deadlines, and a cheerleader who can keep you on-track, so you can finally finish your book and feel proud of sharing your story with the world.

Here’s what’s included in our three-month book coaching program:

You and me, baby

When we work together, you’ll partner directly with me. It’s just us, working one-on-one so you can create the book you envision. There will be no AI. I’m human; so are you. You’ll write a story filled with humanity.

A non-disclosure agreement with a ghostwriter for confidentiality.

Private and confidential

All our work is confidential. You can share your story—and all its ugly edges—confident it will stay private as we shape it into the version you want to share.

Details of what ghostwriting includes.

Jumpstart questionnaire

We'll jumpstart our work together with the Jumpstart Questionnaire, so we understand where you're at so far, and your goals for the book. This will set us up to make fast progress as we move through the rest of the program, so we can make the most of your time.

Your ghostwritten manuscript will be delivered as a MS Word file.

The Blueprint

Together, we'll create your Blueprint. To start, I'll guide you in-depth through a process specifically designed to reveal what's working—or not—with your book idea. It's a chance to take a holistic look at the entire story and get really clear about what's there.

Then, we'll plan exactly what you, with your unique story, life, schedule, and challenges, need to make real, fast progress. We'll craft an exciting Blueprint that makes you eager to jump back into the writing—because this time, you'll know you're right on track.

You own all copywriter for your ghostwritten book.

Private coaching

Every two weeks, we’ll meet for private coaching in a one-hour video call to get you unstuck and actually writing. We’ll look at the work you’ve done so far, talk through the hard stuff, and figure out where to go next.

You’ll have a safe space to talk through your thoughts, and together we’ll figure out how to share your story in a way that is truly impactful. By the end of each session, you’ll know exactly what to write in the week ahead, so you can approach the work like a real author.

Accountability for book coaching

Accountability deadlines

We’ll create a writing schedule that works for your life. You’ll send me your writing, and I’ll hold you accountable to the deadlines we set together. Most of us work better when someone else is depending on us. This friendly but very real outside pressure is key to making the progress you really want, even amidst a busy life.

Professional editing

Every two weeks, I will edit up to 4,000 words of your work-in-progress, giving personal, actionable advice to level-up your writing. You’ll get your document marked-up with comments, just as I do when developmental editing full books for publication.

I’ll show you what works and what doesn’t, so you’ll know if your writing is any good. You won’t have to wait until you’ve finished the first draft to know if you’re going off-track. Instead, you’ll get fast feedback so you can do more of what’s great and adjust what needs work.

I promise to be honest—I won’t blow smoke up your ass. I also promise to be kind. I know showing your work to someone else can feel vulnerable, but I am on your side. You are not alone anymore.

Memoir book coaching pricing

You can find book coaches charging every imaginable rate. They vary based on the coach’s experience, how in-demand they are, their interest in the subject matter, and, frankly, their confidence in their ability to help you write a memoir you can be proud of.

I believe in transparent pricing. You don’t want to waste your time inquiring with a book coach who charges pennies because they don’t have any experience or with one who won’t get out of bed for less than Taylor Swift’s annual income.

My current rate is $4,997 USD for the entire three-month book coaching program.

We split this into three instalments. A $1,665 USD deposit on signing of our agreement secures your space in my schedule, followed by two instalments of $1,666 USD, due at the beginning of months two and three.

If this doesn’t work with your budget, check out The Idea Investigation—a smaller program with a smaller investment designed to give you fast feedback on your book idea and get you moving in the right direction. Whatever your budget, you CAN write your book.

This is the best investment you can make in yourself.

After our first call, I felt assured Liz was the right person to work with. (I really trust my gut when it comes to people). My only concern was the investment required. I had to put a value to my project and decide whether to move forward... and I did.

”I’d never done this before but Liz made everything easy, achievable, and doable. I loved our brain dump sessions. They went almost like talks between friends in a coffee shop. Now, I feel great that the vision in my head a year ago is written. I’m excited about the next steps (even if I’m also nervous).

”Yes, the price is not low, but if you’re looking for quality, dedication, and thoughtful work, that is what you’ll get.

How do WE get STARTED?

I’m so glad you asked! You must find a book coach who’s a good fit for your personality, needs, and memoir. We both need to feel excited about working together. Here’s what the process looks like moving forward:

Step 1. We'll chat about your book idea

Click the green button below to email and tell me a little about your book idea.

We’ll set up a time to chat on a video or phone call. This gives me the chance to make sure I can help you, and gives you the opportunity to ask questions and ensure you like my coaching style. (I’m pretty awesome, but not everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s okay.)

Step 2: Secure your spot and sign our agreement

If we’re both excited to move forward, you’ll pay your deposit to secure your spot in my schedule, and sign our coaching agreement, which outlines what I promise to provide and your guaranteed rate. This ensures we’re both on the same page and crystal clear about what to expect.

Step 3: Get started

On our agreed date, we’ll get started! If you decide to work with me, I’ll tell you the exact next steps. If you decide not to work with me or if we aren’t a perfect fit, I’m happy to share other resources to help you get what you need.

In case we haven’t met yet…

Liz Green, memoir book coach.

I’m Liz Green, the book coach and ghostwriter behind Green Goose Writing.

I work with first-time writers who have been through something, and want to write a book about it to help others. But they don’t know where to start or get stuck trying to put the words on the page.

I help them finally write their memoir, so they can share their experience and pay it forward.

I’ve written twenty books, taught college writing classes, and am an Author Accelerator certified book coach specializing in memoir. I have a post-graduate degree in journalism, and am known for being absolutely honest (yet still kind) with my feedback. And here’s what I’ve learned:

There are a million reasons not to do this now.

Family... work... the timing is never right.

But the urge doesn't care.

That feeling of being drawn to the page doesn't go away. It doesn't give a damn about all the "logical" reasons you should wait.

Because it knows this is something you care about. It's what sits deep in your soul. You can't explain it, and you can't make it go away.

I mean, there's a reason you're reading this page right now. Isn't there?

Take a moment to listen to that whispering voice.

Perhaps you can't explain why you're called to write, to share your message, to leave a part of you in this world... but you are.

Listen to that. Honor that.

Now is your time.
