“Where do I even start?” THIS is the phrase I hear most often from folks who want to write a book but are stuck trying to get the words on the page. (Or are too intimidated to even try.)

Have you thought it? Is this what’s stopping you from even trying?

If so, yeah. I get it. OF COURSE you haven’t started writing your book when you don’t even know the first step.

Duh.

Not knowing the process makes the whole thing feel overwhelming and too big to tackle.

And let’s face it: writing a book IS a big project. But it can be an incredibly fun and fulfilling one, too. Using your ideas to help others is meaningful and worthwhile and life changing.

So, let’s get back to that first step.

The real Kicker

The real kicker here is that the first step FOR YOU depends on what you’ve already done so far, and what you ultimately want to accomplish.

If you’ve got a bajillion notes about a well-established idea, your next step will look very different than that of the person who’s just got a catchy title they came up with in the shower yesterday.

So there is no blanket answer for “the perfect next step.”
